Letters to the Editor July 2007 Reply to Asad Ali's letter below Dear Mr. Asad Ali, We at New-Pakistan are extremely sorry that due to certain technical difficulties we were unable to post our July issues. The problem has been resolved. If you check online all the earlier issues have been posted and we are back on track. We are always grateful to our readers and hope you will continue to stay with us. Best, Dear Editor, I have been a very faithful reader of N-P right from September 2006. However, I have been very disappointed that there have been no new stories for the last 2 weeks. Hope to hear from you. Regards, June 2007 Mr. Husainy, Please convey my congratulations to your entire team, including Sadiq Saleem and Ayesha Jameel, on their thought-provoking pieces. Saleem -------------- To the Editor New-Pakistan Your pieces in the last two months, since the expulsion of our CJP Choudhury Sb, have reaffirmed my faith in the future of my beloved country. At least there are some Pakistanis who care enough about their country to sound alarm bells and try to wake up the others. Best of luck in your effort. Muhammed Ibrahim -------------------- May 2007 Dear Syed Hussainy, I am grateful to you for e-mailing me your most interesting paper. I am neither very educated nor intelligent, but I have reasonable experience because of age. I will be 79 on 28 May 2007. If you think the attached letter is worth printing, then kindly do so. Regards, Miangul Aurangzeb -------------- To the Editor I am a regular reader of New Pakistan, from July 2006 onwards. I must say that the quality of your pieces is excellent and they are always very informative. I must also confess that Mr Sadiq Saleem's pieces are top-notch. Please convey my regards and praise to him. Samina Ali --------------------------------- April 2007 Dear Editor Sahib: ---------------------------- March 2007 Dear Mr Hussainy, I am grateful to you for including me in the list of your recipents of New Pakistan on E-mail. What the Generalissimo did to the Chief Justice of Pakistan yesterday, is unforgivable. If Justice Iftikhar was dishonest, then his appointing authority too should quit. I appointed Justice Iftikhar as Chief Justice of the Baluchistan High Court after Justice Amirul Mulk resigned in 1999. I am no expert to judge Judges. I made this appointment purely on seniority and then found him to be a perfect gentleman. I advised Nawaz Sharif to respect seniority when he was appointing a new COAS in 1998. Best wishes, Miangul Aurangzeb. -------------- Hussainy Bhai, Very good online magazine. Please try and be more regular as the content is excellent but sometimes your posting is slow. Anwar Saeed, ------------------ Dear Editor: I am really excited about New-Pakistan as I feel many of the articles are way ahead of the curve and I get a far more in-depth understabding of very complex political matters. Zehra Jan, ----------------------------------- February 2007 Dear Husainy bhai, Your site has become a site for Paksitan bashing. I don't think that is our intention. For example, the World Bank Report that you quote (and on which I filed a story for Daily Times) found serious fault with India and how difficult it was to do business there.Still. Why did you not report that? Khalid Hasan Editor's reply to Mr Khalid Hasan's email Dear Khalid bhai, Thank you for your feedback. You are right in pointing out that Pakistan bashing is not our intention, Pakistan improvement is. Please note this sentence in the story you referred to - "Despite its fall in ranking, Pakistan still compares favorably with India where government regulation remains extremely high." As you notice we did acknowledge India's poorer rating in the sentence above. The focus of our story, however, was Pakistan as this site is about Pakistan. It is our belief that Indians should take care of India and Pakistanis should take care of Pakistan. We could take the traditional path of bashing India to make Pakistanis feel good. But how does that improve things for Pakistan. Best, --------------- I find these articles well written in terms
of analysis and in terms of importance Walter Andersen Dr. Walter Andersen
Dear Syed, I am writing from the Department of Peace Studies at Bradford in the
UK, one of the world's largest and best known centers for the study of
Peace and Conflict. A colleague was kind enough to send me a link to your
website. The values you articulate on your homepage very much accord with
my own thinking about Pakistan. I'm planning to set up a research unit
looking at security issues in Pakistan to work towards your goals and
wondered if you could agree a link with us and put me on your circulation
list? Best wishes Professor Shaun Gregory -------------------------- December 2006 To the Editor: Extremely interesting and well researched article by Sadiq Saleem on the role of the ISI in supporting the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan. For the true believers among us there is only one route out of the problem of Pakistan's external relations as well as the myriad problems the country faces internally after yet another bruising and long period of military dictatorship. Sydney J Freedberg Jr, has written a solid piece in the latest National Journal. He says that the alternatives to the Pakistani military leader do exist, but they “may require consideration sooner rather than later”. It is time for the US to wake up and smell the coffee...............Their choice of Musharraf for Pakistan is hurting not just Pakistan but their other great ally in the region Afghanistan and therefore destabilizing the region and helping Al-Qaeda. Paki4democracy ---------------- Syed, To the Editor New Pakistan is like a breath of fresh air among the websites and blogs on Pakistan. This week's issue, especially the piece by Sadik Saleem, is one of the best pieces of writing I have ever seen. Please keep up the good effort and god bless all of you. Sincerely, M Akram ----- When will Pakistan's military and technocratic establishment ever listen to the words of correct and independent minded Pakistanis like Mr Saleem. Ahmed Basheer ------ It is about time that not only the ruling elite but even the middle classes and ordinary people on the streets found out the truth of Partition and the 'two nation theory'. Kudos to Mr Mir for such a well-written article. Ayesha Hasan --------- November 2006 Dear Sir, I
have been an avid reader of New Pakistan since its first issue. May I The
establishment and Pakistan's upper classes love to point to corruption
by the democratic and secular parties but this is yet another example
of the deep rot in this military regime. Thank you, Zehra
